For the Time Being
Looking around and ahead in 1994.
I once took a graduate Creative Writing course as part of my sociology coursework. It was not offered by my department. My chair at the time (Mike Brown) nurtured organic intellectualism in all students.
This particular poem was not a product of that course, and in its original form was centered on the page. To do that in Substack formatting forces the text into italics. Artistically, I prefer the centering. As for font, I think it looks better in Courier, plain text.
